"A daughter may out growyour lap, but she will never outgrow your heart." - Unknown
Yesterday as I was typing my first blog I got a phone call from my wonderful mother. That single phone call made me realize that no matter how old I might be, my mother will ALWAYS know when something is wrong. Now I'm not trying to throw my whole life out here on blogs but obviously I am going to have to add examples to how I come to my conclusions. For some reason life is always throwing challenges at me and this reality that I live in becomes hard to deal with. Though I try my best to deal with my life on my own and not drag people into my situations, yesterday my mom knew something was wrong with me without me even saying a word.
I had gone to my mom's house for a bit to help her out a computer problem, about half an hour later when I got home she calls me.
Mom: "Brissa no mas quiero decirte que te quiero mucho."
Me: "I know mom."
Mom: "Que tienes? Se te notaba en tus ojos y en tu voz que estas triste."
Me: "Mom I'm fine."
Mom: "Ya sabes que yo siempre voy a estar aqui se necesitas algo por que yo te quiero mucho."
Me: "I know mom."
Mom: "I love you."
Me: "I love you too."
I am sharing this with you because some parents are clueless when it comes to their child's feelings, and here I am 30 years old and my mom could still read me. Please don't get me wrong, I am NOT complaining I am actually bragging. Once you reach a certain age, you become responsible for the role you play in all your relationships, including your relationship with mom and dad. It is very clear that I appreciate my mom more than words can say, but I am an adult and I would like to think that I am perfectly capable of handling rough situations on your own. Oh heck who am I kidding...I don't like handling rough situations on my own and I am glad that I know I could go to my mom knowing that she will not judge me.
You know what this blog reminds me of the children's book, Love You Forever written by Robert Munsch.
The story begins while a son has just been born. The story then continues through the life of the boy until he is a grown man. The mother continues to rock her son to sleep singing "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my baby you'll be." Later, the role is reversed and he holds his elderly mother and says "I'll love you forever I'll like you for always as long as I'm living my Mommy you'll be."
If you should be grateful for your parents or not remains with you. I am beyond grateful for my creation, for the love and upbringing my parents have given me, and continue to give me.
